Day by Day Itinerary :
Date 1 : Chiang Mai - MAE JOK
Transfer by private vehicle from your hotel in Chiang Mai to the mountains north of the city. We’ll take a stop to join the locals at Mae Malai market: don’t forget to haggle!
Date 2 : MAE JOK - PA KHAOLAM
Breakfast will be served in the early morning, after which we’ll walk beneath the jungle canopy to the Karen elephant camp. The Karen are famous for their mahout, or elephant keeping heritage and their history together reaches back for hundreds of years.
Date 3 : PA KHAOLAM - CHIANG MAI
After breakfast, board a bamboo raft and glide along with the current to the Shan village of Sop Kai. The Shan get their name from the Shan plateau of Myanmar which they are believed to have inhabited as far back as the 10th century. We’ll pass other hill tribe villages as our raft floats downstream past the riverbanks.
